Things to do in Lucknow when you're staying in Vikas Nagar

The Imambaras, Hazratganj, river-front parks and more — what to see in Lucknow, with rough distances and times from the Vikas Nagar side of the city.

Staying on the Vikas Nagar side puts you within a short ride of most of Lucknow's big sights — without the old-city noise at night. Here's a realistic day-by-day shortlist, with approximate distances from our corner of the city.

The old city: Bara Imambara, Chota Imambara and Rumi Darwaza (about 6 km)

Lucknow's headline monuments cluster together across the Gomti, roughly 20–30 minutes away by auto or cab. The Bara Imambara's bhool-bhulaiya (labyrinth) is the one thing everyone should do once — go early, wear grippy shoes, and take the guide; the stories are half the experience. Rumi Darwaza is right outside, and Chota Imambara is a short hop further.

A sensible half-day: leave by 8:30 am, do the Imambaras before the heat, and finish with lunch in Chowk.

Hazratganj (about 7 km)

Lucknow's famous shopping street is best in the evening — colonial facades, bookshops, chikankari boutiques and the basket chaat at Royal Café that people queue for. Budget two to three unhurried hours.

Science City (3 km) and the parks

Travelling with kids? Science City is ten minutes from us and fills half a day easily. For evening walks, Janeshwar Mishra Park — one of the largest urban parks in Asia — and the Gomti River-front are both an easy ride away, and Ambedkar Memorial Park's sandstone architecture at sunset is genuinely striking.

Closer to your room

Kapoorthala Market (2 km) covers everyday needs — food, pharmacies, ATMs, fruit stalls — and Sahara Ganj Mall (4.6 km) has the multiplex and big-brand shopping. See our neighbourhood guide for the full list of what's within walking distance.
